[RL with Lancer - first date.]

Issei was nervous. He didn't remember being this nervous since his first date with Haruto, years ago. He was fidgeting for reasons other than the mild cold as he waited outside his temple gates.

What was he going to do? He had only a vague idea of what to do and what if Diarmuid didn't like any of his plans? What if he made him upset?

He didn't want to ruin their friendship. Not at all.

Issei let out a sigh. "He should be here soon... I'll have to stop panicking by then."

"A knight, yes. I just said that."

"What were you before you became a knight?"

"Training to become a knight."

"But you weren't a knight. You were still faithful and kind and generous and everything such, but you were not a knight. -Has any of that stopped being so?"

"I do not think so. Why?"

"I love you for those things."

"Those are qualities you would ideally find in anyone that aspired to be a knight. I am not so special for possessing them."

"I just have the qualities you'd find in anyone aspiring to be a monk. Should I not think of myself as an individual worthy of being loved?"

"I...yes, but I'm not--"

"Not what?"

"I am not worth it."

Some people just have to be kissed to shut up.

"--?!"

Yes, yes they do.

Reluctantly, Issei pulled away.

"You're worth it. You insult my choice in you by saying you're not."

"...I'm sorry."

"Just try to believe me."

"I don't know if I can."

"Please?"

"...I'll...I'll try."

Issei smiled at that and hugged him lightly for a moment.

Lancer put an arm over his shoulders, a little awkwardly.

"Did you enjoy the date, at least?"

"Of course I did. What about you?"

"Absolutely."
