Issei had been kidding about the reward for Diarmuid being victorious.

Probably.

Anyway. He was just looking forward to seeing him right now. While he waited for Diarmuid's worldhop to arrive, he sat on the top step of the stairs to the temple, enjoying the warm afternoon.

"If it's not any trouble." he answered with a genuine smile.

"It's not." Issei smiled and lightly kissed him on the cheek.

"Hm...very well, then."

Pausing only a moment or two, Lancer wrapped his arms around Issei's waist and pulled him into a kiss.

A kiss that Issei was more than happy to return in full force.

He broke it off after a moment longer, smiling with just a little uncertainty.

Issei smiled back, a hint of red in his cheeks. "Have I mentioned that I love you today?"

"I could stand to hear it again, I think."

"I love you." Issei leaned his forehead against his gently.

"I love you too." Lancer closed his eyes with a strangely content smile, quite pleased with things as they were.

For a while, Issei let them stay like that, before lightly brushing his lips over Lancer's again.

A content sound left him at that, so quiet Lancer likely didn't even notice he'd done it. Hesitating for a moment or two, he reached up and lightly brushed a hand against Issei's face.

"...I think I'm happy."

A pleased expression broke across Issei's face, utterly at ease.

"I've wanted nothing better than to make you happy from the start."

"I am incredibly, unspeakably grateful for your kindness."

"I'm grateful for yours. Unspeakably."

"I am glad I met you. More so to know that I can make you happy."

"I was by far the more fortunate to have met you."

"I hope we aren't about to argue the point, my dear."

"Anything would be more productive than that."

"Of course."

Like kissing one's boyfriend? Because that was just what Lancer decided to do.

To say that Issei was up for that would be an understatement, as shown by the eagerness in which he returned that kiss.

Oh dear, he was quite eager about this. Well, it may have taken him a moment or two, but Lancer matched his pace quickly enough.

Very good, because Issei didn't see, inclined to stop anytime soon. Sort of the opposite, really.

At some point, Lancer might just get a bit flustered about the situation and pause for a moment.

"E-er...Issei..."

"Yes, Diarmuid?"

At least they both had their shirts on still.
