I usually just don't say anything because they might get upset.

I'm really sorry, but I want you to be happy more than I want to try and undo whatever mistake I made or correct whatever flaw I have. I will talk to him... but I won't ask him that. You deserve to only be with someone you actually love.

Even if I have to settle for whoever will take me, I don't want you to be miserable for the rest of your life. And you said I could be happy, so I'm trying to believe that!
