Why you didn't think it was part of the virus?

For one thing, you're not complaining about it. For another, given that the virus' modus operandi was to give people fake memories of already being married, you proposing to her during it seems more like a coincidence.

... worst coincidence ever.

The community has a way of doing that.

It's not like I can go out and tell people, either.

Why not?

We just had a virus where people thought they were married.

But it's over. Sometime soon people will realize you're serious.

I'll let them find that out on their own.
