"I don't know what to do in this situation," Issei explained, gripping his drink (water) tightly. He was considering clinging to Birkin, the only familiar person in this whole place.

They were at a bar. A gay bar. For people looking for dates. Issei already had a boyfriend. Even if he had been single, he wasn't one for the loose atmosphere. What was going on? Why was he at such a place?

Well, because Birkin had asked him to and he'd accepted. Now here he was, nervously looking around and trying not to panic.

Birkin curled up against Stein's chest, smiling to himself. The younger man just seemed so... Happy right now. It was a little weird, honestly, but a good kind of weird. He sort of wished that wasn't the case.

"Well, good. I'd hate to think you'd walk out because you'd rather live alone." He lifted his head up and smiled. "Do you even know how much I'd miss if you did that? Oh, and if you think I wouldn't hunt you down and drag you back here, you're wrong."

He laid his head back down, wrapping his arms around Stein's neck. "Don't you dare even think about living alone, alright?"

Stein was happy. And it was weird.

"That wouldn't happen," he murmured. "If I were going to walk out, I think I'd have done it by now." That smile Birkin directed at him was nice, and he returned it. "I know you would."

He wrapped his arms more securely around Birkin and closed his eyes, relaxing utterly. "Just so long as you don't dare think about abandoning me," he murmured.

"If I were going to abandon you," Birkin said with a smirk, "I think I'd have done it by now." He followed suit and closed his eyes, already verging on being half asleep. "Seriously though, where'd you even get that idea?"

There was a long stretch of silence before Birkin sighed softly. "I'm not Spirit, you know."

Stein was silent for a few moments. "I know you're not," he said softly. "If you were Spirit, I wouldn't have bothered letting myself get attached again."

"Sorry," Birkin mumbled sleepily. "Didn't mean to bring that up. Nice to know you're attached. Sorta sweet." He rolled over, trying to get more comfortable. "Love you..."

Stein pulled the blanket up around them and tucked himself around Birkin comfortably. "It's okay," he murmured. "Love you, too..." Sleepy and comfortable, it didn't even occur to him that he was lying that time.
