Issei had been kidding about the reward for Diarmuid being victorious.

Anyway. He was just looking forward to seeing him right now. While he waited for Diarmuid's worldhop to arrive, he sat on the top step of the stairs to the temple, enjoying the warm afternoon.

"...That is a very good point you make."

Awkwardly, Issei got to his feet. "Shall we go inside?"

"Anything you like."

He relaxed a bit and led Lancer into the temple proper, and then into his room.

"I'm sorry about that."

"You have nothing to apologize for."

He stood a little awkwardly for a moment or two, seeming unsure for what to do before settling for sitting on the edge of the bed.

Issei sat down next to him with no fuss. "It's just a bedroom, Diarmuid."

"I-I'm aware of that." he replied, a little hesitantly.

"I can be a little less forceful if you want... I don't want to make you uncomfortable or mess anything up. I-I don't have date plans for our second date yet. I want that to be something nice."

"You've done nothing unacceptable, of that I assure you."

Lancer paused, actually fidgeting slightly before speaking again.

"You really don't need to plan anything particularly extravagant, you know."

"I want to make sure you have a good time." In ways that merely jumping his bones would not provide.

"I would enjoy myself just as much doing something simple and quiet with you."

"Just dinner, perhaps?"

"I would sincerely love that."

"Then it's agreed that I'll make you dinner."

[croibhristeoir]

"If it's not any trouble." he answered with a genuine smile.

"It's not." Issei smiled and lightly kissed him on the cheek.

"Hm...very well, then."

Pausing only a moment or two, Lancer wrapped his arms around Issei's waist and pulled him into a kiss.

A kiss that Issei was more than happy to return in full force.

He broke it off after a moment longer, smiling with just a little uncertainty.

Issei smiled back, a hint of red in his cheeks. "Have I mentioned that I love you today?"

"I could stand to hear it again, I think."

"I love you." Issei leaned his forehead against his gently.

"I love you too." Lancer closed his eyes with a strangely content smile, quite pleased with things as they were.

For a while, Issei let them stay like that, before lightly brushing his lips over Lancer's again.

A content sound left him at that, so quiet Lancer likely didn't even notice he'd done it. Hesitating for a moment or two, he reached up and lightly brushed a hand against Issei's face.

"...I think I'm happy."

A pleased expression broke across Issei's face, utterly at ease.

"I've wanted nothing better than to make you happy from the start."
