[RL with Lancer - first date.]

Issei was nervous. He didn't remember being this nervous since his first date with Haruto, years ago. He was fidgeting for reasons other than the mild cold as he waited outside his temple gates.

What was he going to do? He had only a vague idea of what to do and what if Diarmuid didn't like any of his plans? What if he made him upset?

He didn't want to ruin their friendship. Not at all.

Issei let out a sigh. "He should be here soon... I'll have to stop panicking by then."

Dinner was at an Italian restaurant where the waiter welcomed them in after they told him their reservation. Issei unfolded his menu and looked intently over it.

"Issei?"

"Exactly what is any of this?"

"Food. Exactly how lost are you?"

"Incredibly."

He doesn't speak Italian. Or know with any certainty what 'Italy' is past 'some country somewhere'.

"This section here covers pasta, with some sauces and some spices depending on what you order. This over here is primarily fish, and this is primarily meat."

"Right, I see."

"I could always order something large enough for two?"

Don't be silly, of course he does. He lived on an island, the heck do you think he survived on half the time?

"If you'd like, I wouldn't mind that."

Time to order a big bowl of pasta to share! That thing of pasta sure is huge.

Squeak. Issei backs off after his lips meet Lancer's, looking incredibly embarrassed. "Th-that doesn't usually happen."

"I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean to...er..."

"Really. I promise."

"Very well, then. I am glad to hear it."

"Please tell me if I'm bothering you at all."

"Don't be ridiculous. Of course you aren't."

"It's just as ridiculous for you to suspect you might be bothering me."

A laugh, less awkward than it was genuinely amused.

"I truly do not understand you sometimes, Issei. Is everyone in this time so unfailingly kind, or is it just you?"
