[RL - birthday party.]

[Anyone who's one of Issei's friends (that does not include you, Greed) received a handwritten invitation to Issei's temple on March 3rd. They were invited over to dinner and then to schmoozing afterwards.

Dinner was remarkably delicious for something prepared by monks, and the party is now in the 'random conversation in the largest room available' segment. There's also a cake on one of the tables.

Issei will be coming to chat up every guest, or they can talk amongst themselves.]

I should certainly hope so. Well, then. Did you wish to open that now or to leave it for later?

I'm shocked you would even suggest that.

It was truly beyond the pale, wasn't it? Even for one who is a master of faking it.

[With a smile, Issei goes to open his Jack Frost-wrapped present carefully.] I'm saving this paper.

[He appreciates it.

The package opens to a small box, black in colour and made of ornately carved wood. Within, the interior is lined with red silk, the softest a man may ever have felt. Laying upon this mattress of gentle crimson lies two odd-looking objects.

The largest and easily the most noticeable is a white device, about the length of wrist to elbow. This one has an ornate symbol upon the top of it and has two long straps. There is a catch on the side. Beside it lies a stranger device yet. It appears to be about the size of an eye, fixed in a frame that ends in a curved hook in a way similar to earpieces.

While he is waiting, Louis carelessly adjusts his tie.]

[Carefully, Issei touches the outside of the devices.]

What are these?

This is called a COMP. It's a portable computer with some rather... special functions.

When wearing the eyepiece, one is able to detect the presence of demons and automatically translate their speech into your own language. The armpiece is the main bulk of the computer and also enables the storage and summoning of demons. However, it is not necessary for you to use that function if you have no wish to do so. It also reduces damage taken from demons somewhat, so it may be useful if you ever find yourself alone in my world. It also functions as a normal computer would and allows for detailed information on demons you have encountered multiple times, including the history behind their "type", their nature and their abilities.
