Is it generally considered strange for the head of a Buddhist temple to be best friends with the head of the local yakuza?

I thought I'd ask, given Father's Day and all.

I suppose it may seem like they should not be, but I believe it is always good to have friends; those that are not as similar to oneself even more so.
